While our industry is still questioning the merits and relevance of integrated construction (IPDs) and production teams using new BIM technologies to build higher quality buildings, companies like the Broad Group are moving forward and accomplishing small miracles.

The Chinese company recently built a 30-story building in just 15 days, with a stunning video to support their claim.

This should ring a bell for our decision-makers! It is actually possible to cooperate and build a new structure with high quality standards, on time and without any budget overrun. The technologies are available but we keep going with our obsolete and ineffective models.

China isn’t the only one to leverage those revolutionary processes. Many companies worldwide, from Japan, Swede, Norway, Austria and many Western countries, innovate and dare go forth.

When will we see Canadian companies team up to perform better? Let’s hope it before we lose our edge and know-how in the construction industry.
